CGOA organized a ‘tholpavakkoothu’ performance by the famous artiste Mr. Rajeev Pulavar during the Vishu-Easter-Ramzan celebrations on April 2024. Mr Rajeev Pulavar, son of Padmasree Ramachandra Pulavar of Palakkad, performed with a team of about 10 artistes.

Mr Rajeev Pulavar, chose the theme ‘History of Kerala’ for his performance which lasted for an hour. It took the audience through Kerala’s cultural symbols, art forms, literature, celebrations, historical events, power struggles, social upheavals, renaissance and ended up with the birth of Kerala state in its present form. When the lights were switched on at the end of the performance in dim light, the audience gave a standing ovation to the artistes for keeping them spell-bound for an hour , reminiscing about their past. Mr Rajeev gave a closer view of the props and settings and his dolls to the audience after the show.
All in all, it was a novel experience for all the members of CGOA. We felt proud to have given them an opportunity to perform here, thus giving a fillip to this art-form and its artistes alike.
